Take the beginner's RYA Level 1 course
Join in with regular club sailing under supervision
Increase skills with Levels 2-3, and then the RYA Seamanship Course.
Recreational Sailing is encouraged once you have passed the Adult RYA Level 1 or RYA Youth Stage 3 for youth.
Join in with recreational sailing or racing at the Martello Lakes, Hythe
on Sunday mornings in collaboration with experienced racing sailors from Redoubt Sailing Club. Boat hire is available via Cinque Ports Sailing Club. We also offer sailing tasters and sailing under supervision of a dinghy instructor at Martello Lakes, Hythe as well as RYA courses via the RYA training centre Martello Lakes Sailing.
At Dover Harbour, there are RYA sailing and powerboat courses available via the Cinque Ports Sailing RYA recognised training centre with club sessions and also for adults, youth and kids
Once the Seamanship course has been achieved, it's possible for both youth and adults to become part of the Assistant Instructor training programme at Conningbrook Lakes and Martello Lakes and become part of the team, and then later become a qualified dinghy instructor (min.age 16) if wished.
We welcome enquiries from already qualified instructors about becoming part of the Instructor team at all sites as well as from suitably qualified volunteers to help on the safety boat or shore team.

We are also RYA Sailability/Powerability recognised at Conningbrook Lakes for the inclusive opportunities available for both sailing and powerboating on an individual basis
At Conningbrook Lakes and Dover Harbour, we have Swim Safe recognition (a collaboration between the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and Swim England in conjunction with the RYA OnBoard recognition for the youth sailing programmes we offer.
